At Free The Girls, we want to be open and transparent when it comes to how we spend the resources others entrust to us.

The numbers above include both monetary and in-kind income using the fair market value of donated bra inventory and other in-kind services. One of the great advantages of the Free The Girls program model is that our overseas program costs remain relatively low even as we expand our program locations to serve increasing numbers of survivors of sex trafficking. The primary reason for this is that, once established, each program location is essentially self-sustaining through the sale of additional bra inventory—at a discounted wholesale price—to the girls in the program. An established program location operates independently and generates enough income to pay its own import duties and fees; in-country transportation and storage fees; and a modest, part-time salary to an in-country staff person.

Free The Girls is a Colorado-based, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our EIN is: 27-2454072. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. Purchases of t-shirts are not considered a donation and are not tax-deductible. Please consult your tax adviser if you have any questions.

In case you were wondering…

…where to find our annual report.

In 2016, we plan to publish our first ever annual report for 2015. You can review our IRS Form 990 for 2013 here and our 990 for 2014 will be available soon..

…how we can afford such a slick website.

The answer is that we can’t. Our website was created through the generosity of the team at Parachute Applications who donated their time and talents. Our staff and volunteers provide most of the maintenance for the website.

…how we can afford to employ five people on staff.

All of our employees are part-time and work virtually from their home offices providing support for our domestic and international programs. Several of the staff positions are funded by a generous grant from the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO). Read more about FAWCO’s donation here.

…why you can’t find us on Charity Navigator.

Charity Navigator only evaluates charities with an income of $1 million or greater. As you can tell from our budget, we aren’t there yet. But hopefully you will see us listed there one day.

…about something else related to our finances.

Please let us know and we will do our best to get you the information.
